It is always safer to assume that the legal age that someone can drink unsupervised at home is the same age as it is legally permissible for that person to buy alcohol. There is a big difference between having a sip of Dad's beer when in family company and being alone with a bottle of wine or whisky ! Particularly if they are not used to alcohol.
A young person is very susceptible to alcohol (they will have a low tolerance level). In addition, drinking unsupervised may mean that they will possibly be drinking with their friends and so they may find that suddenly their friends are putting pressure on them to drink a little more or try spirits for the first time and so on. So, as a rule, always abide by the rule that if they are too young to buy it, they're too young to drink it unsupervised.

The age to buy is way too high. Eighteen is more than old enough to drink responsibly. The MLDA 21 is an affront to the rights and dignity of young adults and should be defied at every turn.

If we're old enough and responsible enough to drive arem't we old enough to drink? If we're old enough to die for our country aren'r we old enough to drink? It should be 18 not 21.
