What Precautions Should I Take When Working With A Computer At A Work Desk?

You would think that working on a computer would be one of the most risk free jobs around. What is to it? You just sit in front and type! Its not exactly as dangerous as building a skyscraper or firefighting, but you can still damage your health.

One of the things which health care professionals have worried about for years is your eyesight. Staring too long at one spot or one area can hurt our eyes. When we look further away our eyes relax but when we are looking close to use they contract. You should try to at least glance away from the screen and into the distance at least once every few minutes to give your eyes a break.

Also how are you sitting? Are you too low? Too high? Do yo have to turn your head to see the screen. Any of these things can lead to neck tension. Which can cause headaches and a variety of other problems.

You should check if your workplace has a policy on work stations and see if your desk complies. You'd be surprised as to what a few changes can make to your comfort and productivity!
