What Two Methods Can Be Used To Determine Where To Place A Decimal Point When Multiplying

New to this not sure what to do

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Well one of the ways to do so is as follows;
    5.25 x 3.2
    525/100 x 32/10
    16800/1000
    now the number of zeroes in the denominator will take the decimal to the left with the same amount.
    16.800 = 16.8
    Another way is as follows;
    5.25
    x 3.2
    = 16.800 = 16.8 (First 525 and 32 were multiplied ignoring the decimals. The answer was 16800. Then the number of digits of both the number after decimals were counted which were 2 in 5.25 and 1 in 3.2. Both added become 3 numbers therefore the decimal is put 3 digits from the right of the answer.)
