    Paris, the capital of France , is situated in the centre of the Ile de France region. The Ile de France region receives the lowest rainfall in the country. The French capital receives unexpected showers which occur at any time of the year. Summer temperatures in Paris range from mild to warm. There are occasional heat waves as well. Winters in Paris are extremely cold. It is not uncommon for the temperature to nearly reach the freezing point during the winter months. Paris receives about 173 millimetres of rain in a year on an average. The wettest month of the year in Paris is the month of May, when it receives about 323 millimetres of rainfall every year. On the other hand, the driest month of the year in the French capital is the month of October, when the city receives only about 63 millimetres of rainfall every year. The minimum average temperature in Paris is about eight degrees Centigrade, while the maximum average temperature is about 47 degrees Centigrade.
