Answer Question

A guitar preamp is a type of a preamplifier which amplifies the electronic sound to pave the way for another amplifier to arrange an electronic signal for additional amplification or processing. In a simpler term the main purpose of a preamp is to amplify low level signals at higher impedance and adjust it to line level. Pre amplifiers can be installed in chassis of the amplifier.

A preamp can also be mounted on other equipments like; Electric basses, turntables and microphones. The pre amp provides a voltage gain of about 10 milli volts to 1 volt. It does not supply any noteworthy current gain. To reduce the noise of a pre amp the metal chassis are interconnected and certain shielded cables are also connected to the source end.
