Ectronically operated machine from a distance. The specific use of the term 'remote control' has been changed to 'remote' or 'controller' or even 'clicker'. Remote controls are used to generate commands to television or stereo systems and DVD players from a distance. The remote controls for the electronic devices commonly used are small and wireless objects that are handled. They have a number of buttons for the adjustment of various settings such as the different channels, track numbers and the volume and contrast.

The earliest recorded sample of a remote control was displayed in 1893 by Nikola Tesla. The mechanism and function was described in the US patent number 613809. It was referred to as the 'Method of an Apparatus for Controlling Mechanism of Moving Vehicle or Vehicles'. Later, in the year 1903, Leonardo Quevedo highlighted the 'Telekino'.

The presentation at the Paris Academy of Science was accompanied by an explanation and demonstration. Leonardo Quevedo was able to obtain a patent in France, Great Britain and the US, the same year. The Telekino flaunted a robot that was able to generate desired functions via electromagnetic waves.
