My 7 Year Old Male Poodle Constantly Licks The Floor. What Could Be Causing Him To Do This?

Our dog constantly licks the floor around the house and we have to keep an eye on him when we walk him outside so that he doesn't lick the ground. What could be causing this excessive licking? At times he has licked stuff that causes him to have diarrhea.

    This is not normal behavior.
It sounds like your dog is over grooming the
environment.  This is typically a sign of
    obsessive-compulsive behavior.  There can
be medical and behavioral (often anxiety) causes of over grooming.  Have your dog examined by a veterinarian to
rule out medication causes and work up behavioral issues.  Behavioral issues are treated with behavior
    modification and medications.

I know about a dogs 'behavioral' issues! Haha My Dalmatian has separation anxiety!!!  Seriously though, your floors simply may have something on it that your dog likes..... Dirt, food, sweat, blood, salt, etc. My dog likes to lick dirty shoes... I haven't been able to stop her yet!
