What Red Dwarf Books Are There?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are four Red Dwarf Novels, written by the show's creators, Doug Nayler and Rob Grant, under then name of Grant Naylor. The books are:

Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers (1989)
    Better Than Life (1990)
    The Last Human (1995)
    Backwards (1996)

These novels give more backstory and deeper insights for the main characters, than the actual television series does. The books give possibly an idealized version of the series' backstory, rather than adapting the show outright. The books also contain ideas that would later be used in the show.

All of the books have been made into audiobooks, with the first two read by Chris Barrie (Rimmer), 'Last Human' read by Craig Charles (Lister), and 'Backwards' read by Rob Grant.

Other books that aren't novels include:

    The official Red Dwarf companion
    Red Dwarf III Scriptbook
    Red Dwarf Programme Guide
    The Space Corps Survival Manual
    The Red Dwarf Quiz Book
