Roald Dahl, a famous novelist, died on November 23, 1990 of leukemia. He died at the age of 74, at his home (Gipsy House) which is in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. The family gave him a 'kind of Viking' funeral, according to his granddaughter. He was buried with chocolates, his snookers, HB pencils, some very good burgundy and a power saw.
The Roald Dahl Children's Gallery has been opened at, Buckinghamshire County Museum, in his honour. His work includes the famous books, James and the Giant Peach, The Witches, Kiss Kiss, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and The BFG. His short stories collection includes 'Someone Like You', 'The Collected Short Stories of Dahl', 'The Best of Roald Dahl', 'The Midenhall Treasure', 'Tales of the Unexpected' to name a few.
