    Rosalynn Carter was very supportive of Jimmy Carter throughout. She was his ideal mate. They had four children together. She travelled with Jimmy Carter extensively throughout the country when he was serving in the Navy. Later when his father died and he took over his peanut farming business she helped him out by handling all the responsibilities related to the accounts. She was also active in politics when Jimmy Carter was elected the senator from the state of Georgia.

    When Jimmy Carter was elected Governor she was a volunteer at Atlanta's Georgia Regional Hospital. Rosalyn was also appointed to the Commission of the Governor for the Improvement of Services to those who were emotionally and mentally handicapped. When Jimmy Carter decided to run for President his wife campaigned for him alone in 41 states. When she was first lady she was present in most cabinet meetings and met with heads of states when Jimmy Carter was not available.
