How Do You Put Pictures On The Computer With A Memory Card From The Camara?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

If you have an old computer then you will have to buy an SD to USB converter plug from places like Radio Shack or Ritz Camera. Take the SD card out of the camera, plug it into the converter and plug the converter into the computer's USB port. Open MY COMPUTER, and click on the external drive that you see. You will see a folder called DCIM. Open it and you will see your pictures. Move the folder either onto your desktop or make a PHOTOS folder in your hard drive (the C:/ drive) select the DCIM folder and Right Click then drag DCIM folder to the PHOTOS folder. When prompted, you want to MOVE the folder. This will remove the photos from your SD card freeing up space on the card and place the pictures on the hard drive. Change the DCIM folder by Right Clicking on the folder and choosing RENAME. Change the name to something you understand like Pic 4-1-09 for pictures taken on April 1 or any other name you like. You need to change names because if you move another folder called DCIM, Windows will erase the first folder.
If you have a new computer, then you should have a slot that readily takes SD cards. Simply insert the card in the correct slot and follow the instructions above.
