Jimmy Carter's Rabbit or Killer Rabbit refers to an incident that occurred during the Presidency of Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter was on a fishing expedition in the region of his home town of Plains in Georgia when a swamp rabbit tried to franticly board his boat. It was reported to have been flashing its teeth, fairing its nostrils and hissing menacingly. The President reacted by using his oar to dissuade the rabbit.

When the President reported this incident to staff at the White House they refused to believe the incident occurred at all. The reason given for not believing the President was that rabbits could not swim. But there was photographic evidence to support what the President claimed. The incident received immense press coverage and was brought to people attention during the administration of his successor Ronald Reagan.
