I would say an ear infection too. Call you local vet and see if they can prescribe you some ear drops mad just for dogs. The dog could either have a build up of wax, or anrunny ear canal or they could have long hair in there ears thats gets infected some times. Some times these can just be pulled out not pleasant but your dog will feel better. But talk with the vet first. Good luck!

Our boxer is 9 years old and has been having head shaking for about 1 year.  This seems to be a "normal" trait in boxers and is seen by a neurologist at the University of Guelph, Ontario as a neurological condition related to the cerebellum.  This seems to be a trait very common in boxers.  There is nothing painful happening to the dog and does not interfere with any other functions.  She has these episodes more often now and they last for a few minutes and then dissipate.  The neurologist in Guelph, Ontario does not seem to think any drug will help.  It seems to be a genetic trait in some breeds, particularly the boxer.  Hope this helps.  It is disturbing to see them shake, but it doesn't seem to cause any pain or problems.

It is not normal.  I would take your dog to the vet, and try to find out what is wrong and treat it.

It seems as if it is in pain that is why it is shaking its head continuously. Normally ear disease causes such action but in this case you dog is limping that means it has hurt its leg and it is in pain that is why it doing this. I can be a sprained or broken leg. Yes it can be serious if your dog keep on moving and does not take rest to let it heal properly. It is better if you take it to vet.

Sounds like ear mites.....you can try cleaning out the ear with some mineral oil and see if it helps!

That's exactly what my dog is going through. Her head was involuntarily shaking today and then later when she stopped, her leg began to hurt her and she has been limping ever since. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow.
