There is a very easy solution to this. You can make copy of your DVD. Then it will be completely safe. You can protect DVD if you put that DVD in a DVD cover. But, it is not very safe because you cannot protect your DVD from scratch. As every time we put DVD in our DVD drive for installing a program then during this process DVD may get some scratches due to the dust on DVD lens.  However, if you make backup of your DVD then you can say that it is completely safe.  You just have to make copy of your original DVD. If you have DVD writer then you can do this very easy.

If you have any DVD writing software then it will take very small time but if you don't have any software, then don't worry you can also write DVD by using the windows service. But windows service does not allow making copy disk. So first you have to copy data from your original DVD then you will copy it to the writable DVD. But some time some files do not copy from disk. So it will better for you if you use any DVD burner software like Nero Burner.
