Well! There are many types of drives like Floppy Disk Drives, DVD drives,and CD-ROM drives. Some other types of drives are also there like zip drives, PATA Hard drives, flash drives, SATA hard drives. These are the most common drives which I have mentioned but the list goes on and on.
All of these drives have different functions like hard disk drive is a non volatile storage device which is used in computer to store data. This data can be accessed and retrieved anytime from the hard drive. On the other hand USB drive is the external drive to store data.
CD-ROM and DVD-ROM are the drives which are used to read the external disks in the computer. In this way all of the drives have different roles and they are used in different medias as well like DVD-ROM can be used on computer as well as in DVD players.
