    Santa Clara County is otherwise known as "Silicon Valley", the home of the computer industry and the internet.

    Santa Clara County is located at the southern end of  San Francisco Bay and extends to 1,312 square miles. The county is a major employment centre for the region, providing more than a quarter of all jobs in the Bay Area.

    The population of Santa Clara County totals almost 1.7 million people, making the county one of the largest in the state of California and the largest of the nine Bay Area counties.

    Accounting for almost a quarter of the entire population of the Bay area, Santa Clara County's largest city is San Jose, which is also the administrative centre of the county government.

    Santa Clara County is also home to three major universities -
    Stanford University, Santa Clara University and San Jose State University  - as well as excellent community colleges.
