Giuseppe Ungaretti was an Egyptian-Italian poet. He was born on 10th February of 1888 in Alexandria. He used to live in Alexandria till he was 24 years old. The desert regions of Egypt provided frequent images in Giuseppe's creation. He used to study in Paris. In that time Giuseppe was studying, he was deeply influenced by the poets of the famous Symbolist Movement. He founded the Hermeticism. The age of Hermeticism was started with his 'The Buried Port'; it was published in the year of 1916. The book brought a reorientation in modern Italian poetry.
The concept of Giuseppe's poetry was experimental, but his poetry was developed in a consistent direction with 'Gay Shipwrecks', it was published in the year of 1919. His experiments with modern poetry were carried on in his later collections.
Giuseppe's creations became more structured and acquired after the Second World War. From that time he came out with more straightforward tone, as well. The great experimental poet was died on 1st June of 1970 in Milan.
