What Is A Dovetail Joint?

    A dovetail joint is a technique used in wood working to join different pieces of wood. It used primarily in joining adjacent sides of a drawer. This sort of a joint gives unique tensile strength to the wooden object and keeps it well bound together with a strong resilience to being torn apart. A dovetail joint consists of one of the boards having pins cut into it and the other having a series of tails. There are different types of dovetail joints; through dovetail joints which have the ends of each joining segment showing to the other side and half bind ones which have one side fitting into the groves cut into the other. The other types include sliding dovetail and full-blind dovetails.
