How Do I Gather Ideas For A 1500 Word Limit Short Story?

When I want to write, i start with a big piece of paper, snd start writing whatever comes to mind... For example. I see a tree so I write tree.. Then I branch off( no pun intended) from tree and write all the words that come to mind, then I do the same with those words... Eventually I'll see something that will spark an idea to write about.

tree.... Leaves, green, needs water, sunshine, squirrel,

sunshine.... Bright, hot, nice, pleasant

hot... Tropics, beaches, swimming

swimming....water, cool, sharks! Jellyfish

jellyfish.... Spongebob!, crusty crab, food... Burgers, hungry

see the association? I could do that all day... Have fun and let your imagination go wild. :)

If you have a choice on the subject of the story, then I would choose a subject that you know about.  Or something that interests you, so you can learn something from.  So you don't get to bored.  Then write and see what you come up with.  Then when you have 1500 words, edit it and see whats missing and fix it.  You will probably want to edit it a few times.  Good luck.

The  first thing you should do is to think about something that you enjoy talking about.  It could be someone or some one thing you know about. It is important to write about the things you are familiar with, love or your interest.

Familiarity  will give you more ideas and a starting point
