What Religious And Historical Buildings Are There To See In Le Havre?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The picturesque city of Le Havre is situated in Normandy in France. Its illustrious past and strategic locale on the banks of the English Channel ensures that it has many sights for tourists to peruse. Often considered to be nothing more than a port on the River Seine, Le Havre's vast reserve of historical treasures proves that reality is much to the contrary.

Le Havre has many grand churches. Its Cathedral dates back to 1536. Also, the Church of St Joseph, the Church of St Anne, the Church of St Michel, the Church of St Francois, the Church of St Marie and the Church of St Vincent are sure to impress all visitors with their antiquity and ornate grandeur. All sight seers must also make a trip to the Granville Abbey a monastery overlooking the Seine.

There are also three museums including the Musée des Beaux-Arts André Malraux, an art museum, Musée du Vieux Havre and Musée d'histoire naturelle which is a Natural History museum.

In addition the Shipowner Home, The Vulcan (a cultural centre), town Hall, the Japanese Garden and Square St Roch are also worth a visit.
