The first attack of MS is optic neuritis. This is treated. After few months, there is another attack of these indications. The disability starts. After this attack, any day you can feel pain in your leg. The multiple sclerosis is an auto immune disease of nervous system. In this disease the myelin sheath of neuron is lost. MS is different in every individual suffering from it, there's many symptoms that can appear and or disappear at any given time. In some, probably most cases; Optic Neuritis is not even an initial sign. There's no "schedule" of attacks or indications; the disease takes it's own course and not everyone suffers from the same symptoms. MS is an extremely complicated disease to diagnose, after seeing 11 different doctors in an 18 year span, I was finally diagnosed - please think before you answer.

Yes, please be careful what you write about MS. It varies greatly with each individual. My mother was diagnosed with MS in 1970 and has never had optic neuritis. Her symptoms are related to gait and cognitive difficulties. I was diagnosed 1989 and have had almost no gait problems, but multiple exacerbations involving optic neuritis.
