The term strip has a number of meanings but the most basic one being, a long thin section cut from a sheet material. Quiet a few narrowly shaped belts of land are also referred to as strips, like the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Strip basically is a thin coastal strip of land besides the Mediterranean, situated in the Middle East. The strip gets its name from the main city, which has a total population of around 1.4 million people, all of them being Palestinians, living in a total land area of 360 square kilometers.

At the moment the Gaza Strip is not identified as an international de jure section of any sovereign nation. According to the global community the Gaza strip has been taken by Israel, but the Israeli government denies this fact.
