Answer Question

Corfe Castle in a space in the Purbeck Hills, which is five miles to the south of Wareham, situated in Dorset, England. It is a tiny village and ruined castle which dates back to 11th century. "Corfe" is the Saxon word for gap, referring to the gap within the hills that is commanded by the castle.

If you get there by car, you can make use of the 120 space pay car park. There is also the option of taking a bus, which is run by Wilts and Dorset Bus Company. You can take a train with the Swanage Railway while the station of Wareham is the closest on the national rail network.

The castle even finds a mention in fictional works. For instance, the novel Pavane by Keith Roberts, who is an English science fiction author living nearby, is partly set around the castle as well as similar events which take place in an alternate history. It is well known that Enid Blyton had spent time in the region. A number of her adventure stories included castles that were supposedly based on Corfe Castle.
