Answers
Bacteria are classified into two types by gram staining. In this process a group of bacteria is stained with four different liquids. First of all the bacteria is added with crystal violet. Then it is stained with iodine, then iodine, then safranin. After that it undergoes an alcohol wash. The bacteria that retain the purple stain from crystal violet are termed as gram-positive. On the other hand the bacteria that retain the pink stain from the safranin are classified as gram negative.
