I wouldn't try if I were you because they are totaly different breeds and one of the babies may turn out a little strange due to the parents also because syrian hamsters need to be kept alone and start fighting with the other. Honestly I once put in a Female syrian and a male syrian and the male was quite calm but the female nearly bit the males ear off!!!
    That is true experience!
    Hope that answered your question!!

Mating a dwarf hamster with a syrian hamster isnt like mating two different breeds of dogs its more like mating a cat and a cockroach it is probably not feasible first off second if for whatever reason it does go to pregnancy the pup will not make it most likely wont even come out which will in turn mean death for mommy hamster and beside dwarf hamster males can stay with mom for birth since he will help her but syrians can not they will kill so to answer both question for mkz12 and ryanna hopefully you all take my advice and also im not an expert syrians and dwarfs can play together just fine but think about this we as humans can play with a horse and sometimes one or the other gets hurts but there is no possibility that we can breed with them

Syrians cant and shouldnt mate with another species. If you put them together the syrian WILL kill your dwarf hamster

        NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they do breed, you will end up shortening the life of the babies.  Please do not try this.

The breeding is best left to certified hamster breeders.  No pet store will want to take cross bred hamsters and then most pet stores will not take hamsters from anyone who is not a certified breeder.
Then what would you do with the babies?  If you ended up with babies and they had birth defects, this would be cruel.

        Please don't breed these hamsters.

No, they will not be born with defects the babies are ok but the problem is the babies will earn that attitude that the hamsters did in the mating so careful the best pairs are the same pair of hamsters

Well you can introduce them and see if they get along, and since the female is bigger it is fine. She has to be in heat in order to get pregnant. How old are they? If she is too old there could be complications causing problems for her and the babies. Also keep in mind if she has several babies where are they all gonna go since males and females after being weaned should be separated and most males will fight and will all have to have their own cages after maturity.

I don't think her hamster is very old and mine i got a month or so ago. I have another question will they be small or big?can you sell them to a petstore or will they not want them if there crossbred?sorry this is the last few but i thought that syrian femal hamsters are the dominant ones?and if its possible can you give step by step directions to introduce them and breed them safely

Well watching them together in the same cage is the easiest way to see if they get along and when she comes in heat they should do their thing not really needing any assistance. What you need to know are the signs that hamsters given when they fell threatened http://www.myhammie.com/hamster-behavior.php http://www.petco.com/Content/ArticleList/Article/30/20/801/Natural-Ham
ster-Behavior.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamster Most pet stores will not take in pets to sell, but some family owned places might. I would check for a place for the pups to go before breeding. The size depends on if the father passes on the dwarfing gene some may be small, some medium and some the size of the mom.

It should be ok.But when the babies are born they will be small like the father ,but cute. There should be no problem with that because the babies will grow up to be a little smaller than the mother.I know you are kinda worried about your little guy, but if the female is in season(witch means see is ready for pregnancy) then she most likley won't hurt the male.If any fighting goes on wile trying to breed them you should have a book in hand to be able to separate them. The male will bite the female's hindquarters but he is only trying to raise them(this is not considered fighting.)Don't worry, thing should go right because I had the same questions but it worked out fine with me.
