It would be more correct to describe Southampton as being on the Southern Coast of England as a bank implies a river rather than the sea.
It is STILL an important port, being the UK's second largest container port.
The New Forest is NOT a city, it is a forest and national park. Nearby cities are Portsmouth and Bournemouth, mentioned, Salisbury and Winchester.
The stretch of water separating the Isle of Wight from the English Mainland is called The Solent it is not and never has been, called the Isle of Wight North Sea.
Town Quay does not lead to the Isle of Wight, there is no bridge or tunnel. You can, as mentioned, get the Isle of Wight ferry from Town Quay, it crosses The Solent to Cowes, a town on the Isle of Wight.
There is no rail service from Town Quay to Southampton City. There is a free bus service or you can get to the City Centre by walking along the High Street, Which leads off of Town Quay.
