What Year Was Rugby Invented?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

According to legend during a game of soccer in 1823, William
Webb Ellis from Rugby School in England, caught the ball and ran
with it towards the opponent's goal line as he was frustrated at his inability
    to kick the ball.

Running with the ball was officially allowed in Rugby School's
rules in 1841, provided the ball was taken on the bound; passing was
    specifically not allowed.
