Sharyn - Believe it or not, the web may not be the place for grant research...I don't know what town you're in, but hopefully you're in one with a couple of universities...One of the libraries is bound to have the only3-book set that lists all the grant giving entities (private & corporate). Please forgive me it's been 15 years since I've done this kind of work..I don't remember the name of the set but the librarian will know right away.
These books lists the groups and gives a complete breakdown of what kind of grants they give (education, housing, music, the arts, medicine, etc.), which population it helps (children, elderly, disabled, etc.), what area it will serve( California, Florida, etc.)...There are so many specifications that you have to research and find a few grants that will meet your needs.
Then you have to write a grant that will sell yourself or your program (whatever that grant is for), making sure you prove you are meeting everyone of their specifications. It is a tedious job that takes a lot of research and time; while combining very exacting writing that proves your meeting every specification, and salesmanship that convinces the committee you deserve their money above anyother applicant. Miss the deadline by 1 day, and you lose out! Be aware of that! Make very sure you make the deadline! Good Luck!

Thank you very much i will go to the library asap. I have heard that it takes a lot of research, maybe this is why these companies on the internet charge a fee.

I have yet to find one that doesn't charge either. I don't think they exist. Be careful of getting scammed by doing research and asking around for other's people's experience with the site.
