Jazz is a form of Music. This form of music indeed originated from America at the start of the 20th century. It is a mixture of African and European Music.

Actually the origin of the Jazz music can be credited to the African American communities living in the United States. Africans were brought as slaves to America. These slaves brought their traditional musical traditions with them. These slaves used them at work and field hollers and were transferred from one generation to another.

By the start of 19th century, most of the African musicians had also learned to play European music such as Violin. When slavery was abolished, new avenues were opened for these musicians. The musicians who were black provided entertainment in minstrel shows, vaudeville, bars, clubs, brothels etc. From 1920-1933, the jazz music as is now popular became common especially in African American young generation.
