What Are The Golden Rules For Wearing Make Up When Older?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

After the age of 40 it is usually best to wear a lot of eye make up or lip make up but do not wear lashings of both !  In other words try to draw attention to your lips or your eyes, but only choose one to emphasise.
As you grow older skin tone tends to fade so it is fine to add colour but do not add colours which are too vibrant.  Subtle is probably the watchword !
If you have been wearing the same shades of make up for many years, then it is best to try out some new shades and make sure that they are paler than the ones which you currently wear.
If you have grey hair then it is best to avoid deep shades of brown and perhaps settle for heather based tones, since these can often complement grey.
Finally try to avoid the temptation to darken your eyebrows if they are aslo grey, because it will make your features seem harsher.
