Start by contacting the breeder's listed at the breed club. By speaking to them you will at least get a good idea of what sort of things to look for and ask for to find someone who breeds even somewhat responsibly. They often need c-section's and quite a bit can go into raising them and a good breeder's knowledge and breeding practices can be invaluable. Last time I knew anyone that had anything to do with pugs it was about $1200 and up depending on quality (parent's, pup's and breeder :-). You may also want to consider rescue. Check your local, petfinder, and the breed club.
