What Are The Ethics Of Lawyers?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

As in any profession lawyers too have to abide by a code of ethics. The ethical code for lawyers includes different aspects from the point of view of the client, the judicial system and the society on the whole.

In most countries today the ethical code is strictly enforced and in case of violations can even lead to disbarment. Some of the issues that come under the ethical part of the legal process are for example client lawyer dealings in the matter of fees, the representation of clients, conflict of interests, bribery, the communication that takes place between the lawyer and the judge, the way the lawyer handles the witnesses and the lawyer's correspondence with his colleagues.

Some other related issues are the competency level of the lawyer in dealing with the type of cases she/he decides to undertake; another aspect is the lawyer's conduct in public as also his dealings with the media.
