Yes, the Plitvice lakes are perfectly safe for visiting, and along with a lot of places in Croatia are now a huge tourist attraction. There are 16 of them, set in a natural area of almost 200 square miles, and the stunning thing is that the lakes are linked by waterfalls which fall into them.
