How Do You Grow Long Stem Roses?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Growing a long stem rose involves pruning the plant constantly. Sharp sheers and gloves are needed to carry on the pruning. The dead blossoms have to be removed along with cutting some of the branches to promote them into growing. The former is carried out frequently while the latter is carried out at the end of each growing season. The cuts are made in the outward facing section of the buds where growth or new shoots are required. These long stem roses have a requirement of a lot of water. They can consume between one to two inches per week. The best part of the day to water roses is in the early hours of the morning as this allows the plant to manage its daily requirement. Over fertilization can damage the plant as much as under fertilization and so use fertilizer specifically made for roses and only in the required amount.
