What Are The Meanings Behind Tarot Cards?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

As we know, there are hidden meanings behind the cards. But how do these meanings come to exist? Who creates them? No perfect answer can be found. But we can still find some interesting stories about the cards. I will give you some examples.
The Fool card: His name was Dionysus, the god of wine. He was the son of Zeus and Semele. Because he was a bastard, Zeus asked an excellent teacher to tutor him. But Hera, the wife of Zeus, hated him and made him lead a vagrant's life.
The Empress card: Hades took Demeter's daughter, Persephone, as his wife against her will. This made Demeter very angry. But Zeus interposed himself, and made it so Persephone can spend half of each year with Demeter. So this is the origin of the four seasons, because when Persephone goes back to hell with Hades, Demeter cries all the time and the whole world is in deathly stillness. There are many other stories about these cards and you can find them on the internet.
