Walrus are large semi aquatic mammals of the suborder Pinnipedia; the male walrus known as bulls can grow to a length of 12 ft and weigh about 1600 kg (3500 lbs). Their main distinguishing feature is their large tusks which can grow to a length of 4 feet in the males.
They are carnivores and their main food is marine creatures like clams, lobsters, fish and the like. Male walrus bulls are extremely aggressive creatures especially in the breeding season when they fight with other males to establish their territory. Being immensely strong a walrus could easily harm a human being if it could though more often than not it prefers to slink in to the water when it scents the presence of a human being.
A cornered or an injured walrus could prove to be very dangerous and can even overturn a boat if provoked. The natural predators of the walrus are polar bears and killer whales (orcas) though larger walrus are known to have killed polar bears.
