How To Install Vista?

Answer Question

MS tried to make the install as easy as possible, but presuming you have a system that will work with the version of Vista you are trying to install...

If you are tyring to upgrade from Windows XP, boot to Windows, insert the DVD, follow the prompts to upgrade and wait.

If you are reinstalling a system that already has an operating system and wiping out that operating system in the process, insert the DVD, when prompted, press any key (like the space bar) to boot to the DVD, the follow the prompts for a custom install. You will probably wish to delete all partitions and format your disk (just follow the prompts), then install. After a few reboots, you will be prompted for a computer name (name it what you want) followed by another prompt for the name if a user account (this is also your choice). Then your time zone, back ground picture, then you have Vista installed.Depending on your system and how quickly you work, between 20-60 minutes for a fresh install.

After that, install your remaining drivers (provided with your hardware? Or online? Or windows updates?) and your programs.
