Here in southeast United States, we have hummingbirds ... which can fly in one place and turn to any direction 360 degrees ... much like the functions of a helicopter.
When they are feeding at our feeder, they remain and hover at the feeder while feeding.
We have a hummingbird feeder, and look at them and their awesome beauty.

Since that last answer was summer, in early to late fall, the hummingbirds begin their journey to fly OVER the Gulf of Mexico to the Yucatan Peninsula, where they remain during winter....a true lover of this bird will put out feeders everywhere so the "out-of-towners" on their journey to Mexico, can feed along the way.
It is just FANTASTIC to think of such a tiny bird, that can't float on the water, can fly nonstop to Mexico.

Hi, my dear friend. I think you should tell us what 's the bird look like,so that we can judge the bird, such as the color, big or small, and seen everywhere or not,and so on.
There are many kinds of birds in the world. If the bird you told is black back and the tail looks like a pair of scissors. And they are usually live in th south.usually we see them in spring. And they usually make their home under the eaves and make home by land and a little grass.I think it is a swallow.

Hummingbirds can fly both backwards and forwards as well as hover in the same spot. Pretty cool.
