Is Barbie A Good Role Model?

I really don't think so, she has really had too many careers for one (person). She can't seem to settle on one, and doesn't have a commitment to one thing, like being a mother, or a care giver, or a vet, doctor, all kinds of things. I know that they are trying to say that she can do anything, and girls have that right, but it still sends the other message, not commitment to one thing. Oh, well, can't do anything about that.

That depends... As a kid barbie was just another doll I dressed and put on a shelf... I didn't look up to her as if she was a real person and my parents made sure I understood that everyone is beautiful no matter the shape, color, size etc... My barbies were not allowed to wear skimpy clothing either, that way it was easier for me to understand that dressing properly was important. Barbie was a rainy day toy for me I was always outside doing something... As long as the child understands right from wrong then there is nothing wrong with barbie.

Yes, BUT ONLY If you aspire to be a vacuous bimbo with a limited shelf life as an ornament/trophy-bride that does nothing to break from outdated stereotypes better suited to a bygone age and consequently  has nothing to contribute to a modern society in fact she probably damages the cause of women's equality more than is realised by many (IMO ;-D )

BTW if Barbie were a real woman,  it is said she'd be 5 feet 9 inches tall, weigh 110 pounds,  and be 39 18 33 (and probably anorexic with that waist measurement ;-)  )

Definitely not!! Unless you want the future generations of girls to be nothing more than ditsy, unintelligent, bulimic/anorexic women who can't stay focused and are  seen only as a   possession to men. No thank you I want more for my daughters!!
