    Edward Villella was the founder of the Miami City Ballet where he is continuing as artistic director. It was founded in the year of 1986. He was born on 1st of October in the year of 1936 in the New York in United States. He is a United States ballet dancer, choreographer and director. He was trained ballet and dancing at the School of American Ballet. In the year of 1957, Edward Villella attached with New York City Ballet. He became the principle dancer of the New York City Ballet in the year of 1960.

    Edward Villella has performed in the leading roles in many of George Balanchine's ballets. Among them 'The Prodigal Son' was outstanding. It was performed first in the year of 1960. In that ballet, Edward displayed a powerful technique of ballet dancing. He took his retirement in the year of 1983 and started a new career as the artistic director of Ballet Oklahoma in the same year. He stayed at the post till 1986, just before to open or establish the Miami City Ballet.
