    Gamaliel is a figure in the ancient ages. Gamaliel the elder or Rabbi Gamaliel I was from the family of the great Jewish teacher Hilel the elder. He was Hilel the Elder's grandson. Gamaliel I was an influential person and a leading authority during the first century in Sanhedrin. His death occurred nine years after Jerusalem was destructed in 63 AD. He was given the title of Rabban, a tile given by the head of Sanhedrin. The head was called a Nasi. Galamiel was one of the seven appointed leaders of the school of Hilel.

    He is a reputed man in Judaism and made some significant changes in the customs of marriages and the number of witnesses. He is well known as one of the most venered teachers of the ancient times. He is described as a Pharisee and celebrated scholar in the book of Apostles.
