What Does A Paralegal Mean?
I am a law graduate from University of London. I am currently working in a law chamber in Bangladesh (my homeland), where I give legal opinions, legal notices, etc. To the clients of my employer. I haven't appeared for the Bar Council exam of Bangladesh yet, so I can't call myself a lawyer. Then what do i say when someone asks me about my occupation? Am i a paralegal or what? Do anyone have any idea?

Paralegal is a person who is not a lawyer but knows the laws and procedures to complete routine tasks. Paralegal can be employed in a law office or he/she can work freelance.
You can simply say that you are a law consultant. You know the complete knowledge but you didn't give the exams. It is just like you know how to operate a patient but you don't have a degree. Doesn't matter as long as you got the knowledge, no one needs your degree. Good Luck.

Paralegal is a better name for a legal secretary. They do all the leg work for the lawyers. So basically they r the ones that prepare your case and all of its material, then the lawyer reviews it and mkaes his decsions. In the long run if you have a good legal secretary (paralegal) you will win your case.

FYI A PARALEGAL MUST ALWAYS WORK "UNDER" AN ATTORNEY. & 1 W/ A DEGREE IS A PARALEGAL AS OPPOSED TO A LEGAL SECRETARY.
