Disulfiram is a drug used to control alcohol addiction. This drug makes the senses reluctant to take in alcohol. However, there are other side effects reported with the usage of this drug. Some of the side effects include occasional skin diseases and eruptions. Many linked cases of Hepatitis have also been reported. Also in some cases psychotic behavior has also been noticed.
The drug Disulfiram should not be used by patients who use stimulant drugs or antidepressants. Side effects may include paranoia and sleeplessness. Disulfiram is also traded under the names of "Antabuse" and "Antabus". The drug should only be used if prescribed.
Apart from Disulfiram as a solution to alcohol addiction, there are quite a few groups (such as Alcoloholics Anonymous and Drinkline) which help addicts overcome alcoholism. There always is hope.
