Having 4 periods in a year is abnormality and this condition is called oligomenorrhea. Most common cause of this condition is poly cystic ovarian disease. That is why it is difficult to get pregnant if your cycle is too long. Poly cystic ovarian disease has no cure but pregnancy can occur after proper treatment which may include small surgery.
