Possums are a nuisance because they can adapt to any environment. They can eat almost anything and there is very little that will turn off the critters. They are difficult to snare because of their agility which allows them to run, climb, crouch and most importantly play dead with consummate ease. Possums are dirty animals that will spread disease in your house.

The only way to get rid of them is by setting traps with alluring baits all over the place. Getting the alluring bait is the easy part because possums are interested in anything and everything. Some people train their dogs to hunt possums but the sight can be quite gory, disturbing and something that will occur regularly. Another variation of the bait is to lay poisoned bait all over the house. Exterminators are usually ineffective because there is hardly any pesticide that will create problems for the hardy possum.
