If you want to find out that in your house people have stayed before or no then you should first check with the society's list of past 10 years about the people who have stayed in that house so far. To check with the society records, you might need a strong reason to get the old records. If you find no clue then consult your neighbours and other people who stay in the society. This is the only way in which you can check whether there were people staying in your house 5 years before or not.

You should consult your deeds which will have a record of anyone who has owned the property in the past.
You can also ask at the Land Registry. If you go to the Land Registry website in UK you should be able to search for your property and pay online to get some information regarding the house.
You can also consider looking at electoral rolls which are usually housed in the Local Council Offices, earlier electoral rolls can be found in Archives and Record Offices.
It all depends how far you wish to go back. Certainly - if these people had a mortgage or owned the property , rather than renting it the deeds or electoral rolls will help. Try also od street directories if the people you are looking for lived there some time in the past.
