      Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa,Italy. He was a son of a wool merchant. He discovered America in 1492.

      Christopher Columbus accidentally sailed into  the Caribbean  sea and landed  on  'Hispaniola' in  1492. Though  he  is credited  with  discovering  the Americas, he was not the first European to make it to this side of the ocean. He thought he had found a route to asia or the lands of India, thus the term Indians. He was cruel to the inhabitants of the lands he came across. How can a person be credited with 'discovering a New land if it is inhabited by several million people'? I would say that someone else must have discovered it before him.
