Where Is The Enigma Machine Kept?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Enigma machine was used in World War II by the Nazis to send coded messages to their forces. The British team of cryptologists was able to break the code and decipher the messages which helped in ending the war at an early date.

The cryptologists worked at Bletchley Park in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire which is now a museum dedicated to the efforts of the cryptologists. A model of the Enigma machine used by the German navy in World War times is kept on display here and is only one of three models currently existing in the world. A visit to Bletchley Park involves a guided tour of the mansion and the huts where the cryptologists worked; a museum housing the model and other exhibits related to World War times is maintained at the site.

The site is also home to a museum named after Winston Churchill Britain's wartime Prime Minister and the Polish Memorial dedicated to the Poles for their pioneering work in code breaking. A model of the codebreaking machine used back then is being rebuilt by Dr. Tony Sale the machine itself being renamed Colossus I.
