I am renting a short term furnished apartment via corporate housing agency. The agency leases through the apartment owners and I contract with the corporate housing agency. I fell behind in rent and now they say if I do not pay by today at 5:45pm they will post a 3 day pay or quit notice on my door tonight. Can they do that. What happens now.

Yes this is legally possible that they can give you notice to vacate your home. You must see the contract you made at the time of renting this apartment if there is anything mentioned in it then you have to vacate this. However law says that landlord should give sufficient time to renters to vacate in any situation.
