How Do I Setup My Modem To Work In Ukraine?

Well, this at least gets me pointed in the right direction. Yes, "phone and modem options" IS where i was. No Ukraine in that drop down list. I wonder if the information is kept in some .inf file somewhere? BTW, you didn't mention if your thinkpad uses a Lucent soft modem or something else. I doubt my usa based isp is gonna know about (or even care about helping ) to set up a modem outside their service area, but hey, these people are knowledgeable and it is indeed worth a try. Well, just in case anyone is reading this and wants to know the answer -- ureka, i have found it. i suspected the problem lied in an inf file. Looking on my puter, I found reference to a file called MDMLTSFT.INF. Which I did not have on my puter and figured that I needed it. Got on internet and easily located that file for download. BUT WAIT. That wasn't the problem -- but it just got me thinking - thinking about the THINKPAD. It needs it's own special drivers. I had already installed the special video and sound drivers, but never did get the modem driver. so I went to the ibm support site, downloaded and installed the modem driver for A31, and voila, now Ukraine appears as an option, plus some other modem problems were resolved.
